Our History

Founded in 1988 by father and son, Jenison Construction is a family-owned, full-service general contractor based in Charlotte, specializing in medical and high-tech industrial construction.

From the beginning, we’ve known that successful projects are built on strong relationships. Much like the buildings we deliver, those relationships are grounded in integrity, reliability, and trust. Early in our history, we earned a reputation for delivering complex, high-quality work through projects such as Piedmont Airlines’ late-1980s expansion at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. That work helped shape how visitors from around the world experience the City of Charlotte—where we proudly call home.

As our reputation for precision grew, so did our role in healthcare construction. Our long-standing partnership with Charlotte Radiology led to decades of work delivering highly specialized medical facilities for imaging, radiation, and other life-saving services. From MRI and CT labs to diagnostic facilities, dentistry, and optometry, we bring proven expertise in managing budgets, schedules, and delivery for some of the region’s most complex healthcare environments.

That same attention to detail has made Jenison a trusted partner for owners in the high-tech industrial and manufacturing sectors. We’ve successfully delivered projects ranging from computer component manufacturing facilities to fiberglass extrusion, PVC fabrication, and other specialized industrial builds—each requiring exacting standards and dependable execution.

Beyond medical and industrial work, Jenison has played a meaningful role in Charlotte’s commercial and retail landscape through office renovations, upfits, commerce centers, and restaurant construction. With more than a dozen completed projects in Davidson alone, there’s a strong chance you’ve encountered our work throughout the region.

Today, Jenison Construction remains true to its hometown roots and family values. We’re still a close-knit, family-owned company offering a personable, hands-on approach backed by unmatched local knowledge. Based in Charlotte’s South End, we’re active members of the community and invested in the region we serve.

Clients choose Jenison not only for the quality of our work, but for the trust, accountability, and long-term partnerships we bring to every project.

George Jenison III

Vice President

George Jenison III is a vice president and project manager with Jenison Construction. With nearly a decade of experience at the firm and large-scale construction management experience before joining, George brings a forward-looking perspective to project delivery, operations, and business administration.

A Charlotte native and the third generation in the family construction business, George oversees project management and estimating efforts while sharing responsibility for business administration and operational strategy. He has managed some of the largest contracts in Jenison Construction’s history. He plays a key role in integrating new processes and industry best practices, ensuring the firm continues to evolve while maintaining its longstanding commitment to quality, integrity, and client relationships.

Prior to joining Jenison, George worked for a national contractor on large-scale multifamily developments in the Washington, D.C., area, with responsibilities including serving as a superintendent, project engineering, and safety coordination. After three years, he relocated to Athens, Georgia to fulfill a new position with a property development company where he managed some of the firm’s flagship projects with budgets up to $100 million.

In 2017, George returned to Charlotte and joined Jenison Construction, where he initially balanced field coordination with project management, gradually assuming greater responsibilities as the firm grew. His transition into leadership roles represents a culmination of the years spent on jobsites during his upbringing and throughout college. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama in 2012.

Currently, George resides in Charlotte with his wife and son, born in 2025. When not at work, he enjoys spending time outdoors and tackling hands-on projects at home.

Eric Jenison

Vice President

Eric is a vice president, project manager, and estimator at Jenison Construction. With decades of hands-on construction experience, Eric brings a field-driven perspective and operational leadership to some of the firm’s most complex industrial and medical facility construction projects.

Since joining the family business in the early 2000s, Eric has overseen highly technical industrial manufacturing projects throughout Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, with a focus on detailed cost estimating and project management. With clients including a PVC manufacturer in Pineville, as well as Atrium Health and other medical facility owners, Eric has consistently delivered high-quality results through practical construction methodologies.

Growing up in a construction family, Eric gained early exposure to the industry working on jobsites as a laborer. After graduating from high school, Eric transitioned into landscaping, working on large-scale projects throughout Charlotte, including Memorial Hospital (now South Park Carolina Medical) and major commercial campuses.

He studied construction technology education at Herkimer College in Upstate New York before returning to Charlotte to attend Central Piedmont Community College. After graduating, he started his own landscaping business that shared an office with Jenison Construction. Eric’s landscaping firm served the Charlotte area for more than a decade, during which he built strong relationships and gained extensive business management expertise. This expertise carried over to his eventual leadership at Jenison, where he remains to this day.

While raising his two sons, Eric became deeply involved in youth athletics, coaching T-ball and baseball, and developing a passion for mentorship both on and off the field. He served as commissioner of the Steele Creek Athletic Association. He was actively involved with the Olympic High School baseball program, where he also served as the announcer for home games.

Today, Eric continues to share his passion for athletics and mentorship with the next generation as his two grandsons approach T-ball age. He resides in Charlotte with his wife, Kathy, and remains actively engaged in the community he has long called home.

George Jenison

President and Co-Founder

George Jenison is the co-founder and president of Jenison Construction, a family-owned, full-service general contracting firm based in Charlotte, North Carolina. With more than four decades of construction industry experience, George has built a reputation for delivering complex, technically demanding projects with integrity, precision, and accountability.

Since founding the firm with his father in 1988, George has helped to guide Jenison’s steady growth throughout Charlotte and Mecklenburg County—a community he’s called home since his adolescence. He has been instrumental in building the company’s niche in specialized medical construction and technical industrial and manufacturing facilities, maintaining strong relationships with clients, some of which span the extent of his career. He assumed his current role in the early 2000s.

Growing up, George worked diligently on construction jobsites for his father in the Detroit area before relocating to Charlotte, where he gained hands-on field experience as a laborer and progressed into site superintendent roles. He earned his bachelor’s degree in construction management from Michigan State University.

George continued to build early career experience with both locally owned and nationally recognized contractors, where he led large-scale commercial construction projects. He continued in a management capacity upon deciding with his father to establish Jenison Construction. Their shared leadership attracted increasingly complex projects, including the expansion of the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport in the late 1980s. Eventually, their technical construction specializations led to key relationships with Charlotte Radiology and other medical facility owners in the region.

Today, in addition to leading Jenison Construction, George remains a dedicated member of the Charlotte community. He is involved in charitable organizations, including Good Fellows Club, Roof Above, and Youth Commission. In every capacity, George remains a relatable, accessible leader driven by a commitment to improving the community he calls home.

Outside of the company and his charitable involvement, George lives in Charlotte with his wife, Pam. He is a father to three and a proud grandfather to three grandchildren. He enjoys spending time outdoors, bird hunting, and photography.
